What are H@ckWeeks?
A concept similar to devcamps (development camps) known in the opensource community, H@ckWeeks was created by EPPLUG to support any type of open ("libre") project. Like regular development camps, we provide the support required to further participant projects for an entire week. H@ckWeeks will take place in Amiens, Picardy, France.
EPPLUG will cover the following for each participating project member:
- trip to and from Amiens and associated costs;
- transportation during the week (to and from train station/airport/accommodations);
- accommodations for one week;
- work rooms, rest romms, and conference rooms;
- high-speed, permanent Internet access;
- food;
- sightseeing trips in Amiens, the capital of Picardy.
Moreover, thanks to their partners, EPPLUG may also, within reason, provide hardware to support the group's work:
- desktop computer and monitor;
- video projector;
- network equipment;
- other electronic equipment if needed.
Which projects may apply?
Any open project may apply: development, documentation, etc.
Artistic or cultural open projects, as long as they can justify an open license, may also apply, and are encouraged to do so.
How often are H@ckWeeks offered?
We hope to be able to offer two sessions every year. Any project that applies and isn't selected can apply again for a future session.
How do you select the participating projects?
EPPLUG will determine elegibility criteria and select projects at its own discretion.
As long as we can handle the requests, we will offer a selection process as open as possible.
If too many projects apply for one session, we may offer them the possibility of participating in a future session.
EPPLUG will publish a summary of projects that applied, which ones were selected, and the motivations for that choice.
